Johan Brun, b. 19th October 1922.

The Beatles' first world tour was opened with two concerts in Copenhagen in June 1964. We are talking about the world's best band photographed in Copenhagen in 1964 by photographer Johan Brun, who shows that he also mastered the relatively new 60's subject, "barbed wire music photography".

The photographs are included in the collection after Dagbladet at the Norwegian Folk Museum. These pictures were found when the Folk Museum began to digitize his entire archive. Brun was 41 years old in 1964 and very skilled in sports photography. Those who grew up with stretch trousers remember both the flash and Hjallis and Stein Eriksen hopping down towards Olympic gold in 1952. As a press photographer for over forty years, Johan Brun has seen and photographed most of his time.

 

He is also a warm and humorous narrator, where the anecdote of Hjalmar Andersen's Norwegian ice skating fall during Bislet EM in 1951 was caught by Johan Bruns surprising flash, is probably the best known. Johan Brun is known for his illustrative, sensitive reportage images and for artistic, often romantic photos.

His work as a press photographer in Dagbladet and his strong connection to nature and outdoor life, with the camera in hand, has made him a legendary model both inside and outside the press-photographic environment. He is now 95 years old and still takes pictures and always carries with him his photo sack.

Vi snakker om verdens beste band avfotografert i København i 1964 av fotograf, Johan Brun, som viser at han også mestret det relativ nye 60-tallsfaget, «piggtråd musikk konsert fotografering».  

Fotografiene inngår i dag i samlingen etter Dagbladet hos Norsk Folkemuseum. Disse bildene ble funnet når Folkemuseet begynte å digitalisere hele hans arkiv. Brun var i 1964 41 år gammel og meget dyktig innenfor blant annet sportfotografering. De som vokste opp med strekkbukser husker både blitsen og Hjallis og Stein Eriksen susende nedover mot olympisk gull i 1952. Som pressefotograf i over førti år har Johan Brun sett og fotografert det meste i sin samtid. 

 

Han er i tillegg en lun og humørfylt forteller, hvor anekdoten om den norske skøyteløperen Hjalmar Andersens fall under EM på Bislet 1951, pga. Johan Bruns overraskende blitz, nok er den best kjente. Johan Brun er kjent for sine illustrative, følsomme reportasjebilder og for kunstneriske, gjerne litt romantiske naturfotografier. Hans virke som pressefotograf i Dagbladet og hans sterke tilknytning til natur og friluftsliv, med kameraet i hånd, har gjort ham til et legendarisk forbilde både i og utenfor det pressefotografiske miljø. Han er nå 95 år gammel og tar fortsatt bilder og har alltid med seg foto-sekken sin.
