Espen Tveit, born in Drammen in 1945. I grew up in an art and literature oriented family but it was made clear to me that I was to take an academic education first: ”so that you can do what you want to the side”. I became a teacher and studied photography and went to photoworkshops in Uppsala with prominent photographers from different countries. I became a member of the FFF (The Norwegian Assosiation for Fine Art Photographers) in the late 1970 and exhibited at the first Photographic Spring Exhibition (Fotografisk Vårutstilling) In Oslo Art Society (Oslo Kunstforening) in 1976 and subsequent years until 1989. I was also in The Autumn Exhibition (Høstutstillingen) the first time photographers were invited in 1979 and several times since then. I have had many exhibitions in Norway and Sweden. My first solo exhibition was at the Preus Photo Museum in 1980. At that time I was working in color, but in 1982 I began photographing in black and white. I have had 3 exhibits in Fotogalleriet (Oslo) during the period 1986-2013. I was one of two Norwegian photographers invited to the major international exhibition UNDER/EXPOSED in Stockholm in 1998 ond one of the five chosen to the FFF´s Jubilee Exhibition in 2007, curated by Susan Bright.

 

I am an analog photographer who likes to work with series over a long period of time. I try to create pictures that are on the one hand simple but at the same time are open to more than one interpretation and say something about the time and society in which we live. My latest exhibitions have been in Bomuldsfabriken and Galleri K.

Født i Drammen 1945. Vokste opp i en kunst- og litteraturinteressert familie. Men det ble sagt tydelig at jeg måtte ta en akademisk utdannelse først, ”så kan du gjøre det du vil ved siden av”. Jeg ble lærer og gjorde studier og gikk workshops i Uppsala med kjente fotografer fra forskjellige land. Ble invitert medlem i FFF på slutten av 70-tallet. Var med på den første Fotografisk Vårutstilling i Oslo Kunstforening i 1976 og med på alle senere fram til 1989. Var også med på Høstutstillingen første gang fotografene ble invitert i 1979 og flere ganger siden.  Første separatutstilling var i Preus Fotomuseum i 1980. Jeg arbeidet den gang i farger, men i 1982 begynte med svart/hvite bilder. Jeg har hatt 3 utstillinger i Fotogalleriet (Oslo) i perioden 1986 – 2013. Var en av to norske fotografer som ble invitert til den store internasjonale UNDER/EXPOSED i Stockholm i 1998. Var blant de fem som ble utvalgt da Susan Bright kurerte FFF´s  jubileumsutstilling i 2007. Har hatt mange utstillinger i Norge og Sverige. De siste store utstillingene har vært i Bomuldsfabriken og i Galleri K.  

 

Jeg er en analog fotograf som gjerne arbeider med serier over ganske lang tid. Ønsker å lage enkle, flertydige bilder som sier noe om tiden og samfunnet vi lever i.
