Grethe Irene Einarsen works photo-based with images and installation. The works are in the borderland between the documentary and the staged photography. With the northern Norwegian landscape as a backdrop in her pictures, the human alienation is a recurrent theme. Einarsens themes deals with everyday issues as well as universal, existential questions.

 

Grethe Irene Einarsen majored in photography from Kunsthøyskolen in Bergen. After graduating she has based in Narvik, worked with exhibitions and commissions nationally and internationally. She was member of the chair in NNBK ( North Norwegian Art Accosiation) and was head of the jury in NNBK. She has attended juried exhibitions and received several scholarships, among other a State 3 -years working grant.

 

Grethe Irene Einarsen jobber fotobasert med bilder og installasjon. Arbeidene befinner seg gjerne i grenseland mellom det dokumentariske og det iscenesatte. Det nordnorske landskapet er ofte bakteppe i bildene hennes, og menneskelig fremmedgjøring er et stadig tilbakevendende tema. Einarsen er opptatt av enkeltindividers kompleksitet, og lar det banale og hverdagslige gå hånd i hånd med universelle, eksistensielle spørsmål.

 

Grethe Irene Einarsen har hovedfag i fotografi fra Kunsthøyskolen i Bergen. Etter utdannelsen har hun med base i Narvik jobbet med utstillinger, installasjon og utsmykkinger nasjonalt og internasjonalt. Hun har hatt tilitsverv som nestleder og jurymedlem i NNBK, deltatt på juryerte utstilliner og motatt flere stipender, bla. Statens 3.-årige arbeidsstipend.
